Mr Stirling's Poem

Piri the Swaying Tree

Swing, sway ice cold leaves

Tree branches holding nectar for bees

Until summer the arms remain bare

But, dont be scared,

they return to bloom at the end of term

Standing proud, strong and tall

Protected and loved by all

Piri the pohutukawa

Tall champion of the Forrest

Tree tree the tree

I look at you every day,
How graceful your leaves sway,
You cheer me up when I'm feeling bad,
You make me happy when i'm mad,
My friend, I hope you will always stay.
